One
needs to understand about eczema is that it's treatment
is not an exact science. Infact nothing in medicine
ever is. The options detailed below are considerations
only based purely on trigger identifications and treatment
costs.
Before starting the treatment, ensure that your condition
has been positively identified by a dermatologist.
Step 1. Contact dermatitis
- Eczema caused from an external factor ie chemical.
Step 2. If your eczema is
localized to the facial area only.
Step 3. Infantile eczema
or your eczema started as a child.
Step 4. Eczema of the scalp
- Sebhorrea dermatitis.
Step 5. Psoriasis.
Step 6. All eczema's not covered
in steps 1-5
Step
1. Identify if your eczema is (contact dermatitis)
ie. a chemical or reagent that your skin reacts to.
Common items are detergents, chemicals, latex, cement,
glue, chalk and the list goes on and on.
This form of eczema affects about 6% of sufferers and
is the easiest to treat. To identify this is simple
because the area of skin that is affected is normally
the part that comes in contact with the offending substance.
In most cases it is the fingers. Treatment: Avoid comming into contact
with the offending substance and treat with Dermaphend
Relief Cream. Additional considerations
that may help
Step
2. If your eczema is localized on your face
only, then you have probably developed an intolerance
or allergy to a cosmetic, soap, cream or perfume that
you are applying. This is not always the case as the
body will find the easiest avenues to expel toxins and
in your case, it may be your facial area. Treatment: Stop all use of current
products to your face. see section on hydroxy acids
and chemicals. Wash only with Dermaphend liquid soap
or similar type of product. During treatment no makeup
can be applied. Start on Probiotc 4B, Mineral Mud, and
Relief Cream. Use as per directions. Additional considerations
that may help
Step
3. If your child has infantile eczema or if
you have had eczema since childhood. This form of eczema
is most commonly caused by an imbalance in the micro
flora of the gastro intestinal tract. The result is
the inability to process proteins and enzymes correctly
leading to a buildup of antigens. Treatment for babies: Start with the
Probiotic 4B and the relief cream. Use the mineral mud
in small patches only. Supplement with high doses of
Omega 3 (preferably derived from fish) Treatment for Children and adults:Start
with the Probiotic 4B and the relief cream. Use the
mineral mud on affected areas. Depending on the severity
a diet based on metabolic typing may be essential.Supplement
with high doses of Omega 3 (preferably derived from
fish) Additional considerations
that may help
Step
4. If you have eczema of the scalp (sebhorrea
dermatitis). Firstly identify if you do not have a severe
case of dandruff. This can be easily treated with certain
anti-bacterial shampoos. If this does not work, then
you can rule out bacterial causes. Treatment Start with Dermaphend Shampoo,
Conditioning mask and the Mineral Mud. (The shampoo
and conditioner are not currently available. Due for
release End July 2004) Additional considerations
that may help
Step
5. Do you have Psoriasis Treatment: Start with the Probiotic
4B and the relief cream. Use the mineral mud on affected
areas. As psoriasis is considered an auto immune disorder
it would be highly recommended that you embark on a
diet based on metabolic typing.Supplement with high
doses of Omega 3 (preferably derived from fish) Additional considerations
that may help
Step
6. If you have eczema that has not been covered
in points 1-5 and have identified the possible triggers
in the section "Understanding eczema" then
your treatment option is as follows: Treatment for mild eczema (one or two
small patches) Start with the Mineral Mud and relief
cream. If your condition has not changed in 5 weeks,
then include the Probiotic 4B as well. Treatment for moderate to severe eczema
Start with the Probiotic 4B and the relief cream. Use
the mineral mud on affected areas. It would be highly
recommended that you embark on a diet based on metabolic
typing.Supplement with high doses of Omega 3 (preferably
derived from fish) Additional considerations
that may help
Step
7. Some people notice changes within a week,
others can take 3-4 weeks of gradual change. Babies and
small children can take upto 8 weeks depending on their
diets. Factors that influence change are: Your age, and
the extent of use of cortisone. If your condition has
not changed at all after 6 weeks then consider the following:
Did you correctly identify
the possible triggers and eliminate them.
Did you following the instructions
as prescribed.
Did you get a positive identification
of your disorder from a dermatologist.
Did you embark on the metabollic
typeing diet.
Do you have candida.
It is now possible that you
have a permability
problem. This usually only affects severe eczema
sufferers and can be associated with called Leaky
Gut syndrome. This is always the absolute last avenue
of discovery as it is not common and requires an enourmous
amount of effort and expense to treat. Before you embark
on this option please ensure that you read the section
on LGS.
